Advani terms PM's comments on terrorism as imprudent
Saturday, December 31 2005 13:35 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Mumbai: Outgoing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President L K Advani today (Dec 31, 2005) described as 'imprudent' and 'unwise' Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's reported remarks that terrorism was not going to affect the dialogue process with Pakistan.

"Our position was that even after we invited General Pervez Musharraf to Agra where he said he will not accept that there is anything like terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, we said then there can be no agreement," Advani told a crowded press conference here.

"The Prime Minister's statement that terrorism will not affect the dialogue process was imprudent and unwise, he said.

Until Musharraf agreed and publicly announced that Pakistan will not allow its territory to be used for terrorism against India, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government had not agreed to have any dialogue, he contended.

"That is the basic difference between our Government and this Government as far as terrorism is concerned," he said.
