Bangalore:
KPCC president M Mallikarjun Kharge's meeting with Maharastra Governor S M Krishna today (Dec 31,2005) has fuelled speculations over the affairs of the Congress in Karnataka in the backdrop of the party's success in the just concluded panchayat polls.
The 40-minute one-to-one meeting between the two leaders has assumed political significance in the wake of growing uneasiness between the Congress and JDS, its coalition Government partner.
Emerging out of the meeting, Kharge described it as a 'courtesy call to greet the governor on the eve of new year'.
But Kharge did not forget to add that it was quite natural when two political leaders meet, issues concerning the state would come up for discussions.
Krishna too termed the visit of Kharge as a courtesy call and refused to be drawn into discussion by reporters.
Former Minister Dr G Parameshwara also called on Krishna and was closetted with him for some time.
Leaders from Tumkur district such as S P Muddahanume Gowda and former minister T B Jayachandra also met Krishna.
