New Delhi: Observing that the New Year is an opportunity to make a fresh beginning, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today (Dec 31, 2005) said there was a need to maintain the momentum towards higher economic growth.

"The resolute will of the people helped the nation tide over several formidable obstacles posed by nature during the past and the nation took several confident steps to meet other economic and social challenges," he said in a message on the eve of the New Year.

The Prime Minister said there is a need to maintain the momentum towards higher economic growth, social development and overall progress of the nation in the year ahead.

"The New Year is an opportunity to make a fresh beginning and to renew our resolve to strive for individual as well as collective growth," Singh said wishing people.
