10 bogies of Sampark Kranti derails, no casualties

Patna: Passengers of the Guwahati-Delhi Sampark Kranti express had a miraculous escape when ten bogies of the train derailed near Mokama station in Patna district this morning (Jan 01, 2006), railway sources said.

The bogies jumped off the track between Barahia and Rampur Dumra stations under Danapur division of the East Central railway but there was no report of any casualties.

"There are no reports of any deaths but some passengers might have suffered minor injuries," an ECR spokesman told sources.

The reason for the mishap is yet to be ascertained, he said.

ECR general manager K C Jena and other officials have rushed to the spot.
