'BJP Mumbai resolution misinterpreted by media' Monday, January 2 2006 09:31 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Thiruvananthapuram:
Stating that the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Mumbai meeting did not propose an arrangement with the Congress in Kerala, BJP state president P S Sreedharan Pillai yesterday (Jan 01, 2006) said the meeting's resolution was misinterpreted by the media.
Addressing reporters here, Pillai said the Congress was acting as the Communist Party of India Marxist's (CPI-M) 'B' team in West Bengal and Kerala. "Congress does not have an agenda of its own in these states and is following the agenda set by the CPI-M," he said.
He said the BJP had proved its strength in Kerala in the recent local body elections by going it alone. The BJP's Mumbai resolution had clearly stated that the party would only have alliance with 'nationalist and democratic' parties.
Pillai said the BJP had not thought of alliances for the coming assembly elections in the state.
He charged that the Congress and the CPI-M were "indulging in a hide-and-seek game to save CPI-M leaders facing corruption charges".
