Chennai: As many as 400 breaches on the Cauvery River Irrigation System, which occurred during the recent rains and floods, would be repaired at a cost of Rs 20 crore, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa said here today (Jan 2, 2006).

In a statement, she said masonry structures damaged at several places during the rains would be repaired from February onwards.

The repairs would be over by June before Metter Reservoir was opened for irrigation, she added.

Farmers in the delta districts of Salem, Namakkal, Erode, Karur, Tiruchirapalli, Pudukottai, Perambalur, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam and Cuddalore would be benefitted by this, she said.
