Kochi:
The security at 23 Public Sector Units (PSUs) here was being tightened in the aftermath of the terrorist strike at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
Ernakulam City Police Commissioner P Vijayan, after holding a meeting with security wings of all the PSUs, today (Jan 3, 2006) said security in the industrial areas would made 'more active'.
However, there was no specific threat as of now, he said adding the main aim of the meeting was to have better coordination among various security wings.
He said the police and security wings at the industrial units were fully prepared to face any threat from anywhere.
On the perceived threat from the seas in the coastal areas of Kochi, he said effective coastal patrolling was already there and thorough checks were being carried out at
the entry and exit points.
Representatives of PSUs including Kochi Refineries Limited and Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore (FACT) Limited besides hospitals in the city attended the meeting.
