Shankar to discuss political situation in Nepal

Kathmandu: Indian Ambassador to Nepal Shiv Shanker Mukherjee discussed the current political situation, including the seven-party agitation for restoration of democracy and end of the four-month unilateral ceasefire by Maoists, with former Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa.

Mukherjee met Thapa, the President of Rastriya Janashakti Party, at the former Nepal Prime Minister's residence at Maligaon yesterday (Jan 2, 2006), party sources said.

During the meeting, they discussed the current political situation, including the seven-party agitation against King Gyanendra's direct rule and end of the Maoists' ceasefire, the sources said.
