UPA's 4-day multimedia campaign begins tomorrow

Chennai: Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee, arriving here tonight (Jan 4, 2006), will launch a four-day multimedia campaign tomorrow (Jan 5, 2006) on the policies and achievements of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government at the Centre.

Launched at the South Chennai constituency of Shipping minister T R Baalu, the campaign would also be attended by Union ministers Priyaranjan Das Munshi and Arjun Singh.

Conducted under the aegis of Inter Media Publicity Coordination Committee of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, the campaign would showcase the achievements of various Central government departments and public sector firms, an official release said here today.

The campaign would fulfill the government's obligations to its citizens to keep them aware of facts regarding governance, mandated under the Right to Information Act.

Similar campaigns have been planned for other Lok Sabha constituencies also, the release said.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priyaranjan Das Munshi and Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh would be participating in the campaign on January 6 and 7 respectively, the release added.
