IISc firing: One person taken to B'lore for inquiry

Chennai: One person 'secured' by the Karnataka police team here, has been taken to Bangalore for questioning in connection with the December 28 terror attack on the Indian Institute of Science, a top police official said today (Jan 05, 2006).

The Karnataka police team probing the case took one Basheer with them to Bangalore this afternoon, City Police Commissioner R Natraj told sources.

Basheer was questioned last night, he said. Basheer was questioned at the Chindadripet Police station for over 10 hours, police said adding the police team today met the commissioner before taking Basheer to Bangalore.

Basheer, the sources said, knew only Urdu and Kannada. The team was also assisted by the city police personnel, including some intelligence officers.

Police had earlier denied that two persons had been arrested in the city in connection with the attack.

The Karnataka police team led by a Deputy Commissioner of Police, had arrived here yesterday.
