Tapping case: Main accused sent to judicial custody Thursday, January 5 2006 20:13 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Bhupendra, the owner of a detective agency, arrested in connection with the alleged phone tapping of Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh was today (Jan 05, 2006) sent to judicial custody till January seven after five days of police interrogation.
Bhupendra, arrested on December 30, was produced before Duty Magistrate S K Gautam who directed that the accused be produced before the designated Special court on the next date.
Though, Special Cell officials refused to reveal any details about the interrogation of the accused, sources said he has confessed to tapping the phone of Amar Singh at "the behest of some persons".
Meanwhile, the counsel for the accused B S Sharma today moved an application seeking a direction to the Tihar Jail Superintendent for providing adequate security to the accused in the politically sensitive case.
According to police, Bhupendra, the owner of a private detective agency 'Metro Intelligence' in South Extension was allegedly tapping Amar Sigh's phone on the basis of forged letters in the name of Delhi government's Home Secretary R Narayanswamy and Delhi Police's Joint Commissioner (Crime) Ranjit Narayan.
Delhi Police had registered a case of forgery, cheating, criminal conspiracy and other relevant sections of the Indian Telegraph Act in connection with the allegations made by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav about tapping of phones of Amar Singh and other SP leaders.
Police had also arrested another person identified as Kuldeep Singh, an employee of the Reliance Infocomm on January two, who had allegedly helped Bhupendra.
