Two persons were arrested with 550 kgs of explosives and 44 electronic detonators during a routine search on Ashoknagar-Vidisha road near Bhadon village, 70 km from here, police said today (Jan 05, 2006).
The two accused, Shivkumar Raghuvanshi and Ramsevak Raghuvanshi, both hailing from Vidisha district, were arrested while transporting the explosives in a jeep without required permit, on the intervening night of January 3 and 4, superintendent of police D P Singh told sources.
The explosive, 'nyojn 90 gel', used in stone mines, was neatly packed in 22 boxes with tags of a company from Royalgaon in Maharashtra, he said adding that the explosives were kept in the form of 4400 capsules.
Around 44 electronic detonators were also recovered from the duo, who claimed to be transporting the goods from Karod village in Vidisha district to Sanvan village in Ashoknagar, Singh said.
A police team has been sent to Vidisha to gather information about Ramsevak and Shivkumar, who were arrested under the Arms Act and the Explosives Act, he said adding a team has also been sent to Maharashtra to inquire about the explosives company.
