Indian engineer from Hyderabad shot dead in Colombo

Colombo: An Indian engineer from Hyderabad has been gunned dead in the Sri Lankan capital, police said.

Durga Prasad, 30, who worked for Aster Communications and was attached to a local mobile phone company, was shot dead on Wednesday night (Jan 04, 2006) in the Dehiwala area, they said.

Investigations are underway and authorities are yet to establish a motive for the killing, police said yesterday (Jan 05, 2006).

Diplomatic sources here said Aster executives were expected here shortly to finalise funeral arrangements.
