Radhakrishnan case: Assault case adjourns to Feb 1 Friday, January 6 2006 14:22 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

A sessions court here today (Jan 6,2006) adjourned to February one, the hearing in the Radhakrishnan assault case in which Kanchi seer Jayendra Saraswathi is the
main accused, on the ground that a petition had been filed in the Madras High court seeking transfer of the case to a court in Pondicherry.
Already, the Supreme Court had transferred the Sankaraman murder case to Pondicherry.
The Madras High court while admitting the petition by the seer seeking transfer of the case, had restrained the First Additional Sessions court Judge A R Selvakumar from framing of charges against the Seer and 10 others accused in the case.
The case relates to Septemeber 2002 assault on former Kanchi Mutt employee Radhakrishnan, his wife and an attendant.
Besides Jayendra, others accused in the case included the R Raghu, the brother of Junior Seer Vijayendra Saraswathi and Mutt's Manager Sundaresa Iyer.
