Third person arrested in Amar Singh tapping case Friday, January 6 2006 09:27 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
One more person has been detained in connection with the case of phone tapping of Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh.
The detained person is an associate of Bhupendra, the owner of a private detective agency, and is believed to have participated in the illegal activity.
Senior police officials are tight lipped about the investigation into the phone tapping case as it has now turned out to be a major political issue.
Meanwhile, Bhupendra, who was arrested on December 30, has been sent to judicial custody till January seven on expiry of his five-day police remand.
Raids are being conducted at various places in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh to track down the persons, who had allegedly masterminded the tapping operation conducted on the basis of alleged forged documents.
Bhupendra, the owner of a private detective agency 'Metro Intelligence' in South Extension Part I, is understood to have confessed to tapping the phone of Amar Singh at the behest of some persons.
Kuldeep Singh, who was working for Reliance Infocomm, was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly colluding with Bhupendra in the phone tapping case.
Bhupendra was allegedly tapping the phone on the basis of letters in the name of Delhi government's Home Secretary R Narayanswamy and Delhi Police's Joint Commissioner (Crime) Ranjit Narayan. The letters are suspected to be forged ones.
Kuldeep allegedly stole genuine letters of Narayanswamy and Narayan which were then forged in collusion with Bhupendra to get Amar Singh's phones tapped.
Delhi Police had registered a case of forgery, cheating, criminal conspiracy and other relevant sections of the Indian Telegraph Act in connection with the allegations made by Yadav about tapping of phones of Amar Singh and other SP leaders.
