District court asks cops to arrest Mamata Banerjee

Barasat (WB): Kolkata police was today (Jan 7, 2006) directed by a district court here to arrest Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee and some others by February 27 in a case of violence during a political meeting here in 1994.

The Chief Judicial Magistrate, Barasat, Siddharta Roy Chowdhury took umbrage on a report by Deputy Commissioner(HQ), Kolkata Police expressing his inability to arrest Banerjee and directed that the warrant of arrest be forwarded to the Kolkata police again for execution.
