Orissa Finance Minister's house stormed by protesters
Saturday, January 7 2006 14:58 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Bhubaneswar: Protesters today (Jan 7, 2006) stormed the official residence of state Finance Minister Prafulla Chandra Ghadei on the Rajpath while a group of people allegedly stoned the state office of the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) here.

A group of people entered Ghadei's residence and smashed windowpanes and flower pots but left the place before police arrived, sources said.

The minister was not present in the house at the time.

"It is the handiwork of Congress people," Ghadei later told sources.

Ghadei is the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA for the Sukinda assembly constituency under which Kalinga Nagar falls.

Statewide protests against the killing of 12 tribals in police firing at Kalinga Nagar on January 2 disrupted normal life in Orissa today.

Meanwhile, BJD sources alleged that some protesters threw stones at the party office near Forest Park.
