The national capital woke up to the coldest day in over 70 years with temperatures plummeting to 0.2 degrees Celsius as icy cold winds swept Delhi this morning (Jan 08, 2006).
However, there was a respite from the fog cover that had engulfed North India over the past few days disrupting air traffic.
The minimum temperature recorded today was 0.2 degrees Celsius, seven degrees below normal during this time of the season. The maximum temperature was 18.7 degrees, two degrees below normal, the Delhi Meteorological Department said here.
This made today the second coldest day in the national capital with a lowest of minus 0.6 having been recorded in 1935.
