Honda workers want Comm to hear Govt witnesses first

New Delhi: As the Justice G C Garg Commission of Inquiry, looking into the police lathicharge on Honda workers in Gurgaon in Haryana, held its hearing in Delhi today (Jan 8,2006), the workers' counsel moved an application urging that the depositions of the Government witnesses be recorded first.

Workers' counsel Seemanto Sen moved an application that their depositions be recorded in the end on which Justice Garg reserved his decision till January 16.

"The counsel of the Honda workers' counsel today raised some objections. Two-three applications were moved by them. I have reserved my decision till January 16," Justice Garg told reporters after the hearing.

He said another application had been disposed off adding further proceedings would be held in the capital on Jan 22.

Earlier hearings of the Commission had been held in Chandigarh and it is the first time that a hearing in the matter was held in Delhi.
