Police have intensified raids to recover Prashant Jain, a garment shop owner, after zeroing in on the notorious Tunni Singh and Sanjay Singh alias Mahatama gang suspected to be behind Thursday night's daring kidnapping from busy Budh Marg in the heart of the capital.
Director General of Police Ashish Ranjan Sinha today (Jan 8,2006) said, "We have received vital clues in the abduction case and our officers are on the job combing the riverine areas of Patna, Vaishali, Begusarai, Samastipur and Nalanda districts in
search of the kidnapped trader.
Feeling the heat of the government on the kidnapping, the DGP, ADGP (Headquarters), Abhayanand, Patna Zone IG, Rajvardha Sharma, IG (CID) A C Verma and senior Superintendent of Police Kundan Krishnan are personally monitoring the combing
operation.
ADGP headquarters Abhyanand told sources, "We are trying our best to rescue Prashant Jain unharmed."
He said after the forensic test of the vehicle used by the kidnappers, "We have received valuable clues.Once we are able to lay hands on the kidnappers, the police will
scientifically link them with the crime and there will be no need of witnesses.
Teams of Bihar police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Special Task Force have mounted a massive search operation for the recovery of the trader, the DGP said.
The kidnapping has been a dampener to the efforts of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who is on a mission to Hyderabad to attract is for making investments in Bihar.
