Cold wave claimed its first victims in West Bengal with two deaths reported due to cold from Purulia district.
The deaths occurred yesterday (Jan 8 ,2006)night in two interior villages in
Bagmundi and Balarampur last night, official sources said today(Jan 9 ,2006).
Cold wave conditions have been prevailing in Purulia since New Year's day.
Meanwhile, the district recorded its coldest day today when the minimum temperature recorded was 6.1 degree celsius, local met office sources said.
The mercury might dip further to 5 degree celsius, the source said.
