Allegations of phone tapping should be probed: CPI-M Tuesday, January 10 2006 17:55 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Denying it has made any charges about phone tapping, Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) today (Jan 10, 2006) said the allegations levelled by other political leaders should be probed in accordance with the Prime Minister's recent statement on the issue.
"CPI(M) is not making charges of phone tapping. However, some political leaders have levelled some allegations and they should be investigated properly in accordance with the Prime Minister's statement that the charges will be probed," CPI(M) Polit Bureau Member Sitaram Yechury told sources.
He said since several private players have come into the telecom field in the recent past, the Government should evolve certain rules and procedures so that these private parties cannot misuse the system.
"For several decades now such allegations have been made, this is nothing new. But the charges must be properly investigated."
