Accused in Kandahar hijacking case arrested again

Mangalore: An accused, released on bail in the Kandahar hijacking case, was arrested yesterday (Jan 9, 2006) on charges of suppressing information while trying to obtain a new passport, police sources said here today.

The accused identified as Mohammed Hajee alias Mohammed Kakar had earlier been arrested for providing duplicate passports to the hijackers in 1999 and possessing a duplicate passport, Superintendent of Police, B Dayanand told sources today.

The accused was arrested by the Pandeshwar police yesterday after they found him guilty of trying to suppress information while trying to obtain a new passport.

He was subsequently produced before the court, which released him on bail.
