Tamil Nadu governor S S Barnala and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa led a galaxy of leaders here to greet Muslims on Eid-ul-Zuha (Bakrid), which is being celebrated tomorrow (Jan 11, 2006).
Barnala, in his greetings, said on Eid-ul-Zuha, the feast of sacrifice, everybody should resolve to promote unity, peace and harmony and dedicate themselves for the cause of unity and integration.
Jayalalithaa said Bakrid was the day to remember the supreme sacrifice by Ibrahim to fulfill the order of the god. "I convey my heartfelt greetings to Muslims on this day," she said.
MDMK chief Vaiko, in his message, said everyone should take pledge to preserve communal harmony and help the people who were affected by natural disasters in the state.
BJP Leader S Thirunavukkarasar, MP, said Bakrid was a day to preserve tolerance and universal brotherhood and appealed to the people to preserve these qualities.
