Election Commission observer K J Rao who is on a week-long visit to Nadia district in poll-bound West Bengal, today (Jan 10, 2006) visited Santipur and Chakdah blocks.
Rao met block officials in the two areas and also heard complaints from the people with regard to the electoral rolls.
Rao, who arrived here yesterday, will be visiting several areas under the 15 assembly segments in bordering Nadia district which have reported countless cases of forgery and irregularities in ration cards and voter ID cards.
Rao detected a large number of bogus voters during his visit to Dhubulia block yesterday and instructed the election department officials to delete them.
He met district officials and representatives of major political parties besides officials of the district administration in Krishnagar yesterday.
