Mumbai:
Extradited gangster Abu Salem's former driver Mehendi Hasan, arrested last month in the Pradeep Jain murder case, today (Jan 10, 2006) confessed his role in the builder's murder before the Metropolitan Magistrate, sources said.
The recorded confession was later submitted to the TADA Judge P V Bavkar's court.
After Salem himself and another accused Riyaz Siddiqui, Hasan is the third one to confess in the Jain murder case.
Anti-Terrorist Squad of Mumbai police arrested Mehendi Hasan on December 15 under TADA Act for his alleged role in the 1995 murder of city-based builder Jain.
After submission of the confession statement, Hasan, who was produced in Judge Bavkar's court today, was remanded to judicial custody till January 31.
Mehendi is alleged to have taken Jain's murderers to the builder's office, where the latter was shot dead in March 1995.
The murder is suspected to be culmination of a tiff between Jain and Salem over development of a prime piece of land in suburban Andheri.
