5.1 magnitude quake shakes Islamabad and other areas

Islamabad: A 5.1-magnitude earthquake today (Jan 11,2006) shook the Pakistani capital and other northern areas, the Meteorological Department said.

There were immediate reports of injuries or damage.

The quake struck around 10.49 am (1119 IST) and was centred about 200 kilometres northeast of Peshawar, the capital of North West Frontier Province, said Mohammed Akram,an official at the Meteorological Department.
