Social organisation want to wipe out PULF militants
Wednesday, January 11 2006 17:56 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Imphal: Thirty-nine social organisations have banded together in Manipur and announced their decision to wipe out militants of People's United Liberation Front (PULF) from the state for their act of terrorism.

The decision to wipe out PULF militants was taken at a public meeting in Samurou area, about 25 kms south of here yesterday, according to the Joint Action Committee (JAC) which had earlier been formed by 39 social organisations against the brutal killing of M. Indrasen Singh by PULF militants.

The statement said today that the JAC would also call a 24-hour general strike in Manipur on January 15 to press the Government to book PULF militants.

JAC alleged that the Government was acting as a 'silent spectator' and urged the government to book those militants responsible for the killing of Indrasen Singh.

Official sources said Indrasen Singh, a prominent BJP worker and president of Indo-Myanmar Friendship Tourists' Centre, had been killed by PULF militants on January 2 for not paying demand money of Rs. 6 crores.

PULF had earlier owned responsibility for killing Indrasen Singh for not paying the money. PULF had been set up in 1994 by one Mohammed Azad alias Abdul Kalam to protect Muslim interest in Manipur.

Describing PULF militants as terrorists, the JAC statement also urged major insurgent organisations in Manipur to help wipe out the PULF from the soil of Manipur.

Some of the important organisations which formed the JAC against killing of M. Indrasen Singh by PULF militants, included United People's Front, Hill and Plain Women's Organisation, 'Hericoun', International People's Solidarity Association, Manipur Students Federation etc.
