Observing that Additional Solicitor General B Dutta had reportedly conveyed to the British Crown prosecution authorities that there was no evidence to link the two accounts in London with the Bofors case, the party Polit Bureau demanded, "the government has to explain why and how this has happened".

Maintaining that these accounts were frozen at the request of CBI, it said the investigating agency had also stated that efforts to bring Quattrocchi to court would continue and that the Interpol red alert notice had not been revoked.

"In such a situation, it is questionable why such legal opinion about the bank accounts has been conveyed to the British authorities", the party said.
