Cold wave: Rise in mercury leads to improvement Friday, January 13 2006 14:37 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

There was marked improvement in the overall cold wave condition in Bihar today (Jan 13,2006) with significant rise in temperature in Patna and elsewhere even as some trains were running slightly late due to thick fog in the morning.
Met office sources said the minimum temperature of Patna, which had experienced the coldest day this season on Tuesday, shot up to 7.8 degree celsius.
Cold wave which continued to lash the pilgrim town of Gaya eased with mercury rising to 6.1 degree celsius from 5 degree celsius yesterday. Bhagalpur continued to be
comparatively warm with no no change in temperature which was at 11.4 degree celsius.
Government and private primary and secondary schools in the state capital, closed due to the biting cold, are likely to reopen on Monday, official sources said.
A few long-distance trains passing through Bihar were reportedly running slightly late due to thick fog in the morning.
Met office sources predict a mainly clear sky with fog or mist in the morning with the temperature not likely to fall.
No deaths have officially been confirmed from anywhere in the state due to cold for the past five days.
