Militant guide killed, two Pak ultras arrested in JK

Srinagar: A militant guide was killed and two Pakistani infiltrators arrested in Jammu and Kashmir, where ultras attacked a picket established for the protection of minority community and decamped with two service rifles of police guards.

The guide of militants was killed in an exchange of fire between militants and security forces at Mendhar in Poonch district last night, a police spokesman said today (Jan 13, 2006).

He said militants were moving with their guide when they were intercepted by the security forces and in the ensuing gunbattle the guide was killed while the ultras managed their escape.

A wireless set and two hand grenades were recovered from the deceased, the spokesman said.

He said security forces today arrested a Pakistani intruder in Bhawani sector of Rajouri district and recovered two grenades and Rs 265 in Pakistani currency from him.

Another Pakistani infiltrator was apprehended by security forces soon after he sneaked into Ramgarh sector of Jammu district from across the border last night, the spokesman said.
