Afghan offers solatium to BRO driver Kutty's family

Alappuzha: Afghanistan government has provided US$ 5000 as solatium to the family of Raman Kutty Maniappan, the Border Roads Organization employee who was abducted and killed by Taliban in that country last year.

Afghanistan's acting ambassador to India, K M Shahulfan, handed over the amount to Maniappan's wife at her home in Chingoli in the district yesterday (Jan 15, 2006), Maniappan's family sources said today.

He also promised further help to the family in the future. Maniappan's father Ramankutty and mother Mani were also present at the occasion.
