2 Hizb rebels killed in J&K, 3 suspected ultras held Sunday, January 15 2006 19:48 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Two Hizbul Mujahideen militants and a contractor were killed in separate incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, where three suspected ultras were arrested alongwith five kgs of RDX since yesterday (Jan 14, 2006)night, a police spokesman said here today (Jan 15, 2006).
Self-styled sector commander of Hizbul Mujahideen Farid Ahmad was killed in an encounter with security forces at Ramban area of Doda district early today. An AK rifle was recovered from him, the spokesman said.
He said security forces killed another Hizbul militant in a gunbattle during search operations at Kither-Banjawa in Kishtwar area of the same district last night.
Ultras abducted a contractor, Nazir Ahmad Kalla (35), from outside his house at Keller in Pulwama district and later killed him, the spokesman said.
Meanwhile, protests rocked Inderkote village of Sumbal in north Kashmir's Baramulla district when the news about the death of local youth Abdul Majid Parray reached his home this afternoon, official sources said.
Parray along with another youth Fayaz Ahmad Bhat were picked up by Rashtriya Rifles from the village two days back and allegedly subjected to torture during interrogation, the
sources said adding, they were handed over to police station Sopore and subsequently brought here for treatment yesterday.
Parray succumbed to injuries at a hospital while the condition of Bhat was stated to be serious, they said.
Residents of the village took to streets to protest the incident, but dispersed after police station Sumbal registered a case against Army and senior police officers assured a probe
into the circumstances leading to his death.
