Jehanabad jailbreak: 7 hardcore naxalites arrested Sunday, January 15 2006 15:00 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Seven hardcore Communist Party of India Marxist (CPI-M) activists, including a self-styled area commander of the outfit, all suspected to be involved in the massive naxalite attack on Jehanabad jail in November last, were arrested from separate places of Patna district since last night, police said today (Jan 15, 2006).
Senior Superintendent of Police Kundan Krishnan told sources that on a tip off provided by the intelligence, the district police arrested self-styled area commander of the outfit Karu Yadav alias Gurudev from a house under Rajvanshi Nagar police station area last night.
On the basis of information provided by Gurudev, having over 32 criminal cases against him, two other naxalites were arrested from Masaurhi block of the district, the SSP said adding two country made pistols and a huge quantity of ammunition were recovered from them.
On the information provided by the two, four more naxal activists were arrested from Punpun, Dhanarua and Parsa areas of the district in the wee hours of today, Krishnan added.
The SSP said the arrested naxal activists were suspected to have a hand in the Jehanabad jail-break operation on November 13 night in which nine persons were killed and over 380 inmates had escaped from Jehanabad jail.
Interrogation of the arrested extremists was on to gain useful information about the Jehanabad incident and other cases, the SSP said.
