AIADMK council, executive committee meet postpones

Chennai: The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) general council and executive committee meetings, scheduled to meet on January 29, has been postponed to February four next, party supremo and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa announced today (Jan 16,2006).

The meetings of these two top level decision making bodies of the party are to gear up the party for the coming assembly elections.

The General Council comprises the panchayat union level office bearers, district level office bearers and state-level office bearers, special invitees, MPs and MLAs, totalling over 1500 party workers.

The council is expected to authorize Jayalalithaa to decide on the party's strategy for the polls and take steps to gear up the party's grassroot level workers for campaigning.

The party has already completed the constitution of booth level committees at many places.
