Dismissed IAF officer Anjali Gupta approaches NCW Monday, January 16 2006 17:44 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Dismissed IAF flying officer Anjali Gupta today (Jan 16, 2006) approached the National Commission for Women (NCW) seeking a fresh probe in her case in accordance with the guidelines laid down by the Supreme Court.
Gupta, who was dismissed from service after a General Court Martial (GCM) found her guilty of insubordination and irregularity, claimed the enquiry by the military court had not followed the 'Vishaka' guidelines, tackling sexual harassment at the work place.
She met NCW chairperson Girija Vyas and submitted a memorandum in this regard.
Later, Gupta said the NCW Chairperson had assured her that she would seek a report of the probe conducted by Karnataka State Human Rights Commission and the Air Force.
Gupta, 29, had accused of sexual harassment by some of her seniors.
She said the IAF had adopted a casual approach with regard to her allegations and this puts a big question on the safety of women at workplace.
The military court dismissed her from service on December 8 after it found her guilty of five charges, including insubordination and irregularity, after a eight-month-long trial.
