Lalu seeks dismissal of policemen for attack on docs
Monday, January 16 2006 15:25 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Patna: Taking a strong note of assault on some doctors by Uttar Pradesh Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) jawans in a running train, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad today (Jan 16, 2006) demanded immediate dismissal of the errant policemen.

"We (the Railways) have asked the Uttar Pradesh Government to immediately dismiss the jawans involved in the outrageous incident. There appears to be no fault on the part of the doctors," Lalu told reporters.

A visibly angry Railway Minister said railway authorities were asked to probe the incident.

"The policemen have violated the law. Such incidents cannot be tolerated," he said.

The Railway Minister said the five doctors, who were reported missing after the assault on them in Allahabad bound Meerut-Nauchandi express near Moradabad, have returned.
