Abu Salem's judicial custody extended till Jan 19 Monday, January 16 2006 15:16 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Mumbai:
A special TADA court today (Jan 16,2006) extended the judicial custody of extradited gangster Abu Salem till January 19 in 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts case.
Salem was produced amid tight security before the special TADA Judge P D Kode.
The gangster is presently in the custody of Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Mumbai Police till January 17 in the 1995 Pradeep Jain murder case.
Salem had complained to the court that he was beingphysically tortured by the ATS and claimed that his confession in the Jain murder case was given under pressure after such
torture.
Meanwhile, the court adjourned till January 23 the hearing on letter by Superitendent of Central Prison at Aurthur Road urging that Salem be shifted because of threat to
his life from rival gangsters in the jail.
Salem was arrested on November 11 and remanded to police custody to CBI till November 23.
Later, the ATS took his custody in connection with Jain murder case.
