Congress treated JD-S unfairly: K'taka deputy CM Wednesday, January 18 2006 17:12 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Bangalore:
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and senior Janata Dal-Secular (JDS) leader M P Prakash today (Jan 18, 2006) accused the Congress of not treating his party 'justly and fairly' in the coalition arrangement and of encouraging 'anti-JDS forces' but said efforts were on to find an amicable settlement.
"Congress has treated us badly and encouraged anti-JDS forces. But we are discussing the issue. We want to find an amicable settlement", Prakash told reporters after the party state unit Working President H D Kumaraswamy met him.
Kumaraswamy called on Prakash soon after he had a meeting with the party legislators, which the latter did not attend. After one-hour long meeting between the two, JDS leaders and legislators left for the residence of party supremo and former prime minister H D Deve Gowda.
Asked if the coalition government would continue, Prakash said he could not say whether it would do so but "as of now, we are in the coalition".
"Anything can happen in politics", he said, when asked if the JDS still stuck to its anti Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) position.
He said JDS legislators had a 'lot of complaints'. JDS workers had been murdered during the recent Zilla and Taluk Panchayat polls but no cases had been booked.
Prakash also said there was lot of 'disenchantment' with the functioning of the government.
