Dharam seeks time till Jan 31 to prove majority

Bangalore: Karnataka Chief Minister N Dharam Singh yesterday (Jan 18,2006)night sought time till January 31 from Governor T N Chaturvedi to prove his majority on the floor of the Assembly, official sources said.

The Governor has however not given any assurance on the Chief Minister's request, the sources said.

Singh's request came during a meeting he had with the Governor after the Janata Dal (JD) Secular (S) faction led by H D Kumaraswamy informed Chaturvedi of their decision to withdraw support to the Congress-JD(S) coalition Government.
