Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh doctors strike called off

Lucknow: The strike by the junior doctors of Uttar Pradesh in protest against assault of their colleagues in Nauchandi Express has been called off.

The Uttar Pradesh Government had yesterday (Jan 19,2006) declared the strike illegal and threatened to take action against the doctors under the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) if they did not report for duty by 1000 hours today (Jan 20,2006).
