I will prove my strength on Jan 27, says Kumaraswamy Saturday, January 21 2006 17:24 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Bangalore:
Sticking to his guns on forming a coalition Government with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Janata Dal (JD) Secular (S) rebel leader H D Kumaraswamy today (Jan 21,2006) asserted that he would prove his strength on the floor of the Assembly on January 27, when beleaguered Chief Minister N Dharam Singh seeks a vote of confidence.
"I am not fighting for power. I will prove my strength on January 27", a defiant Kumaraswamy who has declared that he would not go back on his decision to dislodge the Congress-led coalition Government with JDS told reporters here.
Reacting sharply to the accusations of Singh that his action of holding MLAs 'forcibly' was nothing but horse trading, Kumaraswamy, son of JDS supremo H D Devegowda,
retorted, "I have not pooled legislators by engaging in horse trading. I have been only carrying out my duties as per the wishes of my party MLAs".
Decrying attempts to blame his father for being behind his revolt against the Government , Kumaraswamy said he would bare all details on January 27 whether Gowda was part of the political upheaval triggered off by him or not and various other issues.
He said he would try to convince his father and other senior leaders of JDS on what prompted him to call off ties with the Congress and align with BJP to form the Government.
Kumaraswamy shifted his legisaltors from a five star hotel to Goa today fearing that Congress might attempt to lure his men.
