Maoist, army overnight clashes leaves 20 dead in Nepal

Kathmandu: At least 14 Maoists and six security personnel were killed in a overnight clash between troops and rebels in Nepal's Makwanpur district, the army said today (Jan 22,2006).

The clash erupted after the rebels attacked troops carrying out search operation in Faparbari area of Makwanpur district last night, an army official said.

"The troops have recovered at least 14 bodies of Maoists while six security men inlcuding one policeman was also killed in the incident," the official was quoted as saying in the Nepalese media.
