Ottavio withdrew money 5 days after de-freezing a/c

New Delhi: Government today (Jan 23, 2006) admitted before the Supreme Court that money has been withdrawn from Italian Businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi's bank account on January 16, five days after the accounts were de-freezed.

This was stated by the government in an affidavit today.

A bench headed by Chief Justice Y K Sabharwal had issued notices to the Centre and the CBI on January 16 asking them to take steps to ensure that the amounts were not withdrawn.
