BJP says SC verdict on Bihar vindicates stand Tuesday, January 24 2006 12:38 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Terming the Supreme Court verdict on Bihar as a vindication of its stand, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today (Jan 24, 2006) demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi as also the immediate recall of Governor Buta Singh.
"We welcome the Supreme Court verdict. It has vindicated our stand. The Government had taken oath on Constitution and if they do something unconstitutional, then they must go," BJP deputy leader in Lok Sabha V K Malhotra told sources here.
"The very fact that the Council of Ministers got misled proves that this Government is not competent to rule the country. They are equally responsible for it," Malhotra said and demanded Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's resignation.
Alleging that Buta Singh would not have taken the decision to dissolve the assembly without the consent of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, he said she is to be equally blamed for it and should immediately resign as Chairperson of the National Advisory Council.
He also demanded immediate recall of Governor Buta Singh.
He said senior party leaders were away in Jaipur for the brainstorming session with RSS and the party's future course of action would be decided once they return to the capital and meet.
