BJP slams Govt for money withdrawal by Quattrocchi Tuesday, January 24 2006 09:44 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Keeping up the heat on the Bofors issue, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) yesterday (Jan 23, 2006) alleged the withdrawal of money from two London bank accounts of Italian businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi confirmed "the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government under Sonia Gandhi's direction has succeeded in its mission of Help Quattrocchi".
"The rap by the court that the Government was bound to approach the court first before recommending the defreezing of accounts is a slap on the face of the Government," party spokesman Prakash Javadekar told reporters here.
He said the revelation by the British Crown Prosecution Service that the accounts were defrozen due to the Indian initiative is "shocking and proves that the country was taken for a ride by the establishment".
