Devegowda holds discussions with party colleagues Wednesday, January 25 2006 16:29 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Bangalore:
Janata Dal (JD)Secular (S) supremo H D Devegowda today )Jan 25,2006) held consultations with his party senior leaders after his arrival from New Delhi where he met Congress President Sonia Gandhi on the ongoing political crisis in the state.
Gowda, who had an inconclusive meeting with Gandhi yesterday (Jan 24,2006), arrived here this morning from the national capital but declined to take any questions from reporters on the outcome of the discussions he had with the Congress president.
"I have nothing to say now. Whenever I have something tosay, I will tell you", he said, before leaving his residence for an undisclosed destination to hold discussions with party
senior leaders.
Different options to defuse the crisis threatening the existence of the Congress-JDS ministry had reportedly emerged at the Gowda-Gandhi meeting but both parties have remained tightlipped on the outcome of the talks.
The much anticipated meeting came a day after Gowda backed his son and rebel JDS leader, H D Kumaraswamy, whose action in withdrawing support to the coalition government has brought to it near collapse, with Chief Minister N Dharam Singh slated to seek a vote of confidence on January 27.
Meanwhile, JDS rebel legislators have begun their visit to places of pilgrimage in Udupi district, a day after arriving at Karwar from Goa where they were holidaying fearing
attempts by the Congress to lure them away.
