J&K: Hizb divisional commander Abu Hamza arrested

Srinagar: In a major breakthrough, security forces have arrested a self-styled deputy divisional commander of Hizbul Mujahideen militant outfit in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said here today (Jan 25,2006).

Mohammad Wasim Malik alias Abu Hamza was arrested by security forces yesterday (Jan 24,2006)during search operations in Kulgam area of the district, the sources said.

A resident of Kishtwar, Malik was presently functioning as divisional commander of the Hizb and security agencies believe that his arrest would be a major setback to the operational capabilities of the outfit, they added.
