Uma Bharti says, she never wished to destroy BJP
Wednesday, January 25 2006 09:21 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Pune: Sensing a chance of her return to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after Rajnath Singh took over and talking of the core issue the party was identified with, expelled party leader Uma Bharti said yesterday (Jan 24,2006)at 'she never wished to destroy BJP.' "I believe in ideology which BJP once stood for. I am its worker. What will one do when thieves sneak into your house? When some thieves (pointing to the second rung leadership) took control of the party, I had no option but to yell after coming out of the house. But I don't want to destroy the BJP. I am the BJP. Those who have expelled me are not the BJP," she said in reply to a question by reporters here.

The question was in reference to her speech at MIT's School of Government here wherein she had stated that she wanted to form the Government in Madhya Pradesh once again.

Uma said in her speech that she wanted to fight the elections, come out victorious and form the government so as to implement her plan for development of the villages.

About her reported invitation to former Shiv Sena leader Raj Thackeray to join her political bandwagon, she said, "It was a totally false news. I am for unity in the Shiv Sena. Rather I don't want to see such kind of tumultuous development in any party be it Shiv Sena, BJP or any other organisation."

On her views on change in leadership in BJP and the new party president Rajnath Singh talking about 'Ram and Roti,'Bharati said, "It was a good thing that the BJP was returning to Ram and Roti."

"However, we have to see what will happen to this when the BJP and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) of which the party is a constituent comes to power, "she said.
