Congress welcomes Bihar Governor Buta's resignation Thursday, January 26 2006 19:52 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Congress today (Jan 26,2006) said democratic traditions and conventions have been followed with the decision of Bihar Governor Buta Singh to step down from his post in the wake of his indictment by the Supreme Court.
"It is a matter of congratulations, support and good governance that within 48 hours of a 475-page Supreme Court judgement, democratic traditions and conventions have been
followed and implemented in letter and spirit," party spokesman Abhishek Singhvi told sources here.
He said it was clear that both the Congress party and the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government 'preach what they practise'.
"It is understandable that the Opposition finds itself without an issue in the light of the steps taken by the Bihar Governor to resign on his own," he said.
